The team works in the research area <strong>technical plasma systems and plasma processes<\/strong>. In addition to the application of technical plasmas, the focus is also on the development of electrical and optical <strong>diagnostic methods<\/strong> as well as <strong>mathematical modeling and numerical simulation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AEPT<\/strong> is hosting the<strong> Research Group for Biomedical Plasma Technology (BPT)<\/strong> directed by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Andrew R. Gibson. BPT works on the characterization of the unique <strong>chemical and physical properties of various plasma sources<\/strong>, with a focus on <strong>plasma chemistry.<\/strong> The team develops and uses a <strong>combination of numerical simulations and experimental measurements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AEPT<\/strong> is active in the research area of <strong>technological plasmas and plasma processes<\/strong>. In addition to the application of technical plasmas, the focus is also on the development of electrical and optical plasma diagnostic methods as well as mathematical modeling and numerical simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AEPT<\/strong> is members of <strong>coordinated research initiatives<\/strong>: DFG TRR 87 &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/sfbtr87blog.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pulsed High Power Plasmas for the Synthesis of Nanostructured Functional Layers<\/a>&#8220;, SFB 1316 &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sfb1316.rub.de\/index.php\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Transient Atmospheric Plasmas &#8211; From Plasmas to Liquids to Solids<\/a>&#8220;, SFB 1461 &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crc1461-neurotronics.de\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Neurotronics: Bio-inspired Information Pathways<\/a>&#8220;, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flextmdsense.ruhr-uni-bochum.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ForMikro &#8211; FlexTMDSense<\/a>, among others<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AEPT<\/strong> strongly supports <strong>entrepreneurship<\/strong>. Two start-ups have already emerged from the institute: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/house-of-plasma.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">House of Plasma<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/glim-skin.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">glim Skin<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AEPT<\/strong> is a member of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rdpci.rub.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Re\u00adse\u00adarch De\u00adpart\u00adment Plas\u00admas with Com\u00adplex In\u00adter\u00adac\u00adtions<\/a>&nbsp;as well as the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrd.rub.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Materials Research Department<\/a>&nbsp;at Ruhr University Bochum.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AEPT&nbsp;is the&nbsp;Chair of Applied Electrodynamics and Plasma Technology&nbsp;(formerly Chair of Electrical Engineering and Plasma Technology) in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr University Bochum.
